“Your brain has 42 tabs open, and one of them is a tax return from 2018.”

Let’s talk about your money tabs. Because if you’re neurodivergent, your brain isn’t running “one thing at a time.”

It’s running 42 tabs, three emotional downloads, a nostalgia playlist, and one intrusive thought about a tax return from 2018

Why ND Brains Have 500 Tabs Open

Your money brain isn’t scattered because you’re “bad with finances.”
It’s scattered because:
• your nervous system is overloaded
• your working memory is full
• every task feels like a mini-boss fight
• and money triggers survival mode faster than a surprise phone call

This is normal ND wiring.
You’re not broken, you’re just buffering.

What Money Tabs Look Like

Some tabs are harmless like:
• “did I switch my phone plan?”
• “which credit card is renewing?”
• “where did that $43 charge come from?”

Some tabs are spicy like:
• “I should start budgeting”
• “I should fix my credit”
• “I should open my bills”

And some tabs are pure chaos like:

• “I must reorganize my entire financial life tonight at 2:14 a.m.”

This is the ND cycle: panic → hyperfocus → burnout → avoidance → repeat.

The Quick ND-Safe Reset

Here’s the 60-second exercise that actually works.

1. Identify 3 money tabs
Pick three mental tabs that feel loud RIGHT NOW.
Don’t solve them.
Just name them.

2. Park them
Write them down in one place.
Not seven notebooks.
Not a napkin that will die in your laundry.
One place.

3. Pause
You don’t fix them today.
You just take them out of your brain’s RAM.

This “tab closure” trick gives ND minds the same relief as closing 20 Chrome windows after a research rabbit hole.

The Real Secret

Money confidence doesn’t start with math.
It starts with fewer mental tabs screaming at you. Clear your brain first.
The money comes next.

TL;DR

ND brains run too many mental money tabs, which creates overwhelm and avoidance. Naming and parking three tabs instantly restores clarity. Your brain needs simplicity before strategy.
